About the Project:
The Funkytown Mural Project is a three-phase community-driven initiative led by "local" artist TuxedoKat aimed at enriching Downtown Concord with captivating murals that celebrate our city's past, present, and future. We're inviting "local" artists to join us in transforming blank walls into dynamic canvases that reflect the spirit of our community.

What We're Looking For:

Artist Criteria: We value passion, dedication, and a connection to Cabarrus County. Your portfolio and experience with murals will be considered.

Submission Requirements: Provide your artist resume, answer key questions showcasing your understanding of local history, and ask any questions about the project.

Selected Artist(s) chosen via Funkytown-appointed committee.
Phase 1 2024 | Timeline:
1. February & March: CONNECT WITH INTERESTED ARTISTS via *THIS* Application
2. Early April: Review the submitted applications.
3. April: Contact Artists
4. Late April: Artist Selection
5. Early May: Community Engagement Planning
- Work with selected artist to plan community painting days.
- Discuss and finalize the design concepts.
6. Mid-May: Publicly Announce Selected Artist & Artist's Design
7. June: Host community paint days throughout June.
8. Late-June: Project Completion
- Complete any final touches.
- Celebrate the successful completion of Phase 1 of the Funkytown Mural Project.

Budget Details:
- Stipend is $4,500
- Additional $500 for paint and materials
- Scaffolding will be provided
Project Coordinator:
Local Concord artist Katlyn "Kat" Cornelius will serve as the dedicated Project Coordinator for the Funkytown Mural Project. With her expertise and guidance, the chosen artist will receive comprehensive support throughout every stage of the project. From logistics and timeline management to hands-on assistance and valuable mentorship, Kat will ensure that the artist has everything they need to bring their vision to life. Whether it's offering practical support to get the job done or providing guidance to help the artist grow and thrive as an entrepreneurial artist, Kat is committed to making this project a success.
